Oscars Nominations 2021: “Mank” Leads The Pack With 10 Nominations

The 93rd Academy Awards are set to recognise the very best of yesteryear’s cinema. Without a doubt, the pandemic has caused various changes in the film industry with multiple film delays and consistent shifts in schedules. Of course, the Academy Awards were not spared but after some major tweaking, the show is poised to make a grand return 14 months after Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite” won Best Picture.

It is worthy to note that, in a year where theatres were unable to operate, streaming largely took centre stage as more and more films began releasing digitally. As such, many streamers such as “Netflix” and “Hulu” are taking the spotlight this year.

“Mank”

David Fincher’s “Mank” currently holds a firm lead in the front with 10 nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Cinematography. Chloé Zhao’s “Nomadland” ties with “Judas and The Black Messiah”, “Minari”, “The Father”, “Sound of Metal”, and “The Trial of The Chicago 7” with 6 nominations across the various categories.
