People can’t help but feel excited waiting for their new car to arrive at their location. Unfortunately, it doesn’t turn out that way for everyone. Imagine being excited waiting for your new car to arrive until receiving news that the car has crashed.
Earlier this month, a Proton X50 has been damaged in an accident while being delivered on its way to a customer in Segamat, Johor Bahru from Kuala Lumpur. The incident has been a viral topic on social media.
Facebook user and former sales advisor Puteri TopSales have shared a long statement based on the accident.
According to her, she has closed a deal with this customer on a red Proton X50 about 4 months ago. Now, it’s about time for her customer to receive delivery of the car.
Puteri also stated that the car was registered on 1st March 2021 and was supposed to be handed over to the customer on 6th March 2021. She is no longer working as a sales advisor at the branch. Hence, the delivery cannot be done alone. Another active sales advisor has to accompany Puteri.
Current sales advisor Azmi Irawan was chosen to send the car and accompany Puteri to Johor Bahru to meet the owner of the Proton X50. According to Puteri, the initial plan was to convoy to the agreed drop-off location. At 3pm, they both left the showroom. Azmi was driving the customer’s car while Puteri was driving Azmi’s car.
Unfortunately, Azmi did not follow the plan. When Puteri contacted him, he told her that he had already left Ampang and was on his way to Johor Bahru. He also promised to meet her at the agreed drop-off location since he was ahead. At 5.30pm, Puteri sent him the address of the drop-off location. During the same time, Azmi told her he had already arrived in Melaka.
At 8pm, Puteri contacted Azmi to tell him that she was at Segamat. He told Puteri he left earlier than her, but he’s still wasn’t seen at all. When it was 10pm, she tried calling him 40 times with no response.
After plenty of missed calls and text messages, there was bad news. It was informed that the Proton X50 was involved in a tragic accident and declared a total loss in Segamat. The customer hasn’t even seen the car yet.
Azmi made a police report mentioning that he drove the customer’s car at a speed of 180km/h. At the same time, he made up certain excuses. For example, Azmi blamed Waze and Google Maps because the apps lead him to Karak road and nearing Dungun, even when the destination was set to Johor Bahru. Fortunately, he didn’t sustain any injuries from the tragic accident.
Following the incident, Puteri was angry about the incident as Azmi kept twisting the story. The former sales advisor stated in her Facebook post that nobody will understand what really happened before the accident.
Puteri’s Facebook post garnered at least 2700 reactions, 3100 shares, and 2200 comments from various netizens. Many are questioning who’s responsible for this incident and how insurance claims should be carried out.
We don’t know for sure who’s really in the wrong or responsible for this situation. We can only wait for further investigation from authorities in dealing with this incident.
