5 Things We Can Look Forward To In “Hospital Playlist” Season 2

The second season of “Hospital Playlist” is coming soon and we couldn’t be happier. With the first season captivating viewers all over the world, the new season is set to provide more of what we absolutely loved.

Our favourite doctor squad is returning and cliffhanger questions will finally be answered. Check out some things you can look forward to in the new season below.

1. Upgraded Band Skills

The first season blessed us with the band performing a lot of ‘90s music and the actors playing their instruments themselves. Kim Dae-myeung shared, “With the new season, we’ve improved a lot.” Yoo Yeon-seok added, “In the past season, there were some songs that took us three months to learn and most songs took at least a month. With the new season, there were songs where we would practice a week after. We were all surprised that we could pull it off.” The cast further revealed that viewers can look forward to seeing them perform more difficult songs.

2. Elevated Chemistry

The friendship chemistry between the main characters was so natural and realistic in the first season. However, the actors revealed that their chemistry in the new season will be even better with the actors getting closer. Jeon Mi-do said, “When we couldn’t meet off-line, we met on-line via chat rooms and video calls.” Cho Jung-seok explained, “It’s almost like we don’t even need words to communicate. That’s how close we’ve become.” Furthermore, Jung Kyung-ho said, “Viewers can look forward to a stronger chemistry and a truer friendship between the characters.”

3. More Heartwarming Stories

One of the best facets of Hospital Playlist is how heartwarming and relatable it is. Full of heartfelt stories about everyone in the hospital from doctors to patients, you may have shed a tear or two. Director Shin Won-ho said, “It’s always important to stick to the essence of what a series is about. Rather than bringing in new things, we wanted to deepen what we had in the first season.” Jeon Mi-do also stated, “I think you can look forward to the different stories of individual patients that will be heart-warming and tear-jerking.” We can definitely expect more empathetic stories that will move our hearts.

4. Changes in Relationships

The first season ended with many cliffhangers for each of the main characters. Cho Jung-seok said, “Viewers can look forward to changes in the relationships between characters.” He pointed out Ik-sun and Jun-wan’s relationship, Min-ha’s feelings for Seok-hyung, and even Wu-ju and Mo-ne. In addition to these pairings, we can await potential changes for Jeong-won and Gyeo-ul as well as Ik-jun and Song-hwa. With a year having passed, there will be many changes to anticipate.

5. New & Familiar Characters

With the characters being so well developed, they often feel like our own friends. The actors admitted feeling a sense of familiarity and finding themselves becoming more like their characters. Jeon Mi-do mentioned being thankful for various nicknames like Song-hwa and Jun-wan being called big eaters. Director Shin Won-ho also admitted that there will be special appearances and new characters in the upcoming season. With new and familiar faces, there’ll be a lot of characters to enjoy.

But if you need a quick recap, here’s a catch-up guide to know what’s going on with the main five doctor friends, starting with…

Lee Ik-jun

Our resident social butterfly and hepatologist Lee Ik-jun (Cho Jung-Seok) is always busy being an amazing doctor, doting single father, and befriending everyone in the hospital. At the end of the first season, he confessed his feelings to his long-time friend and first love Chae Song-hwa (Jeon Mi-do). We’re dying to find out if Song-hwa feels the same way and whether they’ll become a couple or not. We also can’t wait to see more of his adorable son U-ju and hear more of his sweet singing.

Ahn Jeong-won

The paediatric surgeon loves children, loves God, and loves helping out people in need. While Ahn Jeong-won (Yoo Yeon-seok) was torn over the decision to become a priest in the first season, he ended up deciding against it and confirmed his feelings for Jang Gyeo-ul (Shin Hyun-been). With their cute couple nickname “Winter Garden,” fans are super excited to see more of their romance in the new season. Here’s hoping we can see some cute antics from Jeong-won as they navigate their new relationship.

Kim Jun-wan

Cardiothoracic surgeon Kim Jun-wan (Jung Kyung-Ho) appears prickly on the outside but is just as warm-hearted as his friends on the inside. A fan of golf and sweets, Jun-wan turned into quite the romantic as he delved into a romance with Ik-jun’s sister Ik-sun (Kwak Sun-young). At the end of the first season they became a long-distance couple when Ik-sun left to study abroad. He mailed her a couple ring, but got the package returned to him. The second season should provide us with a much-needed update on their relationship status.

Yang Seok-hyeong

The introverted obstetrician-gynecologist enjoys spending his time alone, with his friends, or with his mother. After Chu Min-ha (Ahn Eun-jin) confesses her feelings for him, Yang Seok-hyeong (Kim Dae-Myeung) tells her he’s not interested in dating. Respectfully undeterred, Chu Min-ha continues to show her interest and spend more time with him. At the end of the previous season, he turned down Min-ha’s invitation for Christmas dinner and received a call from his ex-wife. Will Seok-hyeong experience romance in season 2?

Chae Song-hwa

Neurosurgeon Chae Song-hwa (Jeon Mi Do) is a true lover of camping and she’s perfect at everything except for singing. At the end of the first season, Song-hwa moves to Sokcho to work at a hospital branch there for a year in order to improve her health. After moving, Ik-jun confesses his feelings for her and tells her to take her time and tell him how she feels when he gets back from the symposium in Spain. We’ll see whether she’s back in Seoul for the new season and what her answer for Ik-jun will be.
