After 2 Years In Malaysia, YouTuber The Food Ranger Is Moving To Dubai

If you ask any Malaysian what we’re famous for, the first answer is probably food. Malaysian culture is built on good food with good friends. However, we aren’t the only place with good food, and all good things have to come to an end.

Trevor James, aka The Food Ranger, previously announced that he will be leaving Malaysia for Dubai on 26th June. The difficult decision was made as he wants to continue “Foodrangin”; that is exploring food around the world.

The Canadian YouTuber came to Kuala Lumpur in November 2019 and has enjoyed his stay here for about two years. He’s been living and enjoying life (and food) in Malaysia with his wife Ting Ting and their beloved corgi Muffin. In his Instagram post, Trevor explained they have chosen Dubai as their next destination since it is a central travel location that is rich in food. The Food Ranger also explained he would be taking off first to find a place for the trio. However, he promised this is not goodbye. “We will be back,” he declared. “(Malaysia) is my favourite place in the world!

This isn’t the first time the Food Ranger has proudly claimed Malaysia as his favourite country. Apparently, Trevor enjoys the ease of international travel here and obviously, the multicultural food found in Malaysia. He has shared in a previous interview that his favourite food is either durian or sambal petai!

During his two years here, Trevor traveled around Malaysia showcasing state-specific flavours to his several million followers on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. Tourism Malaysia recognised his work and thanked him with a certificate of appreciation given by Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri.

Yesterday, the Food Ranger posted a video documenting him leaving Malaysia. He showed the near empty Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and recorded himself eating his last meal of nasi lemak. “It’s quite a sad moment,” he commented as he ate. “My mouth is just alive with Malaysian flavour right now and it’s gonna be quite a while before I can have it again.

Although he’s looking forward to getting back to “Foodrangin”, he’s still sad about leaving Malaysia. But he’ll be back for more eating and travelling once the pandemic has settled down! We look forward to your return. Good luck on your travels!
