The Beijing police has recently revealed the results of the initial investigation in the ongoing case involving Kris Wu (吴亦凡) and his former rumoured fling Du Meizhu (都美竹).
As you may recall, the latter was accused of “raping” her and numerous other women, including underaged minors, in a series of posts on the girl’s social media. Wu’s side had since denied all the claims made against him, as the case was soon turned over to the police for investigation.
Here’s the breakdown of the initial findings by the police about the case:
1. Regarding Wu and Du’s past relationship
In the statement, the police revealed that on December 2020, Du was invited to Wu’s house by the singer’s manager, Feng, under the reason for choosing a MV female lead through auditions. The two then “engaged in sexual relations”. Du left his house later that afternoon. They kept in touch on WeChat after that. Wu was also said to have offered the 19-year-old a sum of money to be used for “online shopping”.
2. Regarding the information spread online by Du & other parties
During her police questioning, Du apparently admitted that she originally came up with the allegations against Kris Wu in order to gain “fame”. The police stated, “In June 2021, Du Meizhu and her close friend Liu discussed releasing information about Wu’s relationship with Du in order to gain popularity online. On 2nd June, Liu used Weibo account “Classmate Liu Meili”, and posted about Du being psychologically abused by Wu.”
They added, “From 8th to 11th July, Du added three more posts. On 13th July, an online writer named Xu (31), contacted Du for his own profit. Following discussions, they decided to have Xu write over 10 posts on Weibo, including one about “a decisive battle”, and have Du post them beginning on 16th July.”
3. Regarding suspect Liu’s alleged fraud acts
At the same time, the police also shared the details on the situation regarding an individual named Liu Tiao’s fraud cases. “In June 2021, after the suspect (Liu) came across the news about Du Meizhu and Kris Wu, he came up with the idea of pretending to pose as relevant individuals to defraud both parties involved,” they revealed in the statement.
“During this time, Liu made up a fake female identity, and under the guise of being another victim of the case,” the police further added. The 23-year-old suspect initially approached Du in order to abstract money from the former EXO member’s side over the alleged rape controversy, then turned sides in order to abstract money from Du as well. He was arrested by the police earlier on 18th July.
So far, police are continuing their investigation in order to uncover whether or not the famous pop star and his party intentionally “preyed on” women for the purpose of having sex. After the preliminary investigation results went public, Beijing News has recently published an interview with the person in charge of the Beijing Chaoyang Public Security Bureau to answer questions from the public regarding the case.

4. That time when Du was invited to Wu’s house
Du issued another statement afterwards, revealing that Feng (Wu’s agent) had used the casting call as a way of inviting her to Wu’s house. “Because she was a woman, I didn’t take precautions, and got into the car she’d called for me,” she wrote on her post. “It was only when I arrived that I realised it was a drinking gathering at his house, and wasn’t a meeting for just the two of us to discuss work.”
“I said that my alcohol tolerance is low, but those at the table kept telling me to drink. I even threw up while drinking once. Later, I drank until I lost consciousness, and Feng Meng took me to his (Kris’) bedroom. I wasn’t the one who took the initiative to go! I didn’t deliberately stay behind!” she further clarified.
The influencer then added, “On the next day, after we had sexual relations, Wu said he would take responsibility, and so I believed that he wanted to date me, and I stayed at his house for a meal. We contacted for a few months but he disappeared. Later on, it was exposed that he was dating someone else. At the same time, my friend also approached me and told me that Wu was pursuing her.”
Du then stressed that she didn’t commit fraud and also receive any money from Wu’s side. “They transferred money over to me without my approval. I’ll return everything to the public securities. There were so many girls who got deceived and came to find me. I’ve already tried my best to speak up,” she expressed.
She then concluded by saying, “You can say that I’m seeking for fame and playing with the media. You can say whatever you want, it doesn’t matter to me. There may not be an outcome that will make everyone satisfied. But I really tried my best. I hope there won’t be any girls who get cheated of their body and feelings.”
