Fully Vaccinated

Over the weekend, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced that fully vaccinated people can expect some good news in the coming days. Those who have taken 2 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine might be able to take part in more social activities and sports.

We will finalise (the details) and I will announce it as a total package,” Muhyiddin said on this “leeway”. “I do hope that this (relaxation) will give room or space, breathing space, for the people to live a slightly better life.”

Following the long duration of lockdown, retail operators in Malaysia are hoping that only fully vaccinated individuals can be allowed into shopping malls in order to kick start the retail industry. In a joint statement, they also expressed that the government will consider this option for a safer environment for shoppers.

The groups – which consist of Malaysia Shopping Malls Association, Malaysia Retailers Association (MRA), Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA), Bumiputera Retailers Organisation (BRO), Malaysia REIT Managers Association (MRMA), and Malaysian Association of Theme Park and Family Attractions (Matfa) – said:

This will improve the chances for revival and survival of retail businesses which have been severely affected by recent closures. We wait with anticipation on what the prime minister (Muhyiddin Yassin) will announce for those who have completed two doses of the vaccine.”

The ease of restrictions may also allow fully vaccinated people to dine-in restaurants again. Another flexibility being considered is to allow interstate travel for long-distance married couples.

The Parliamentary session taking this week is expected to cover the National Recovery Plan, economic assistance packages, state of emergency implementation, and more.
