Starting today (Friday, 20th August), dine-in is now permitted at restaurants for individuals who have completed 2 vaccine doses. Fully vaccinated parents are also allowed to bring children (below the age of 18).
Having said that, Restoran Chai Por Hu (新菜脯鱼) – which is located in Alor Setar, Kedah – has decided to remain temporarily closed and not allow customers to dine-in just yet.
Restoran Chai Por Hu uploaded an image with the caption, “Sorry everyone, you only have 1 life. There won’t be any dine-ins for now.” The admin added that although the government has announced a more relaxed SOP, the number of daily cases are still at an alarming rate. “Yes, business may be bad but we wouldn’t want to put people’s health at risk just to earn some extra cash,” reads the statement.
Fret not though as Restoran Chai Por Hu (who is known for its variety of Chinese dishes) still offer takeaways. Many netizens have applauded their effort and hope that more eateries will follow this example. Even Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has stressed that “places are opening because of economy and not because it is safe”.
A reminder to all, many places are opening because of economy & not because it is safe. Please keep that in mind; please wear a mask, double masks if possible, practice physical distancing & frequent hand washing. Avoid crowded & confined spaces. Stay safe & get vaccinated asap.
