Foxes Roam Freely In Zao Fox Village, A Sanctuary In Japan

If you’re a person who finds foxes adorable, then this story is for you! The Zao Fox Village (Zao Kitsune Mura) which is a fox sanctuary in Japan is an absolute paradise for fox lovers. This sanctuary is located close to Shiroishi city, in the mountains of Miyagi. The sanctuary was open to the public since 1990 and it houses more than a hundred animals. In this sanctuary, you can watch six different breeds of foxes roaming freely.

In this sanctuary, there are horse stables and a zoo that lets you pet bunnies. Also, there’s an enclosed area where young and injured foxes are kept safe. Visitors can take a tour of these places after paying a small admission fee. However, the key attraction of the sanctuary is the large and open area where foxes roam freely, Here, they scamper, play, eat, and sleep freely. Most of the foxes are used to human interactions and they eagerly approach humans. They are curious about humans and want to be fed or petted. But still, it’s important for visitors to be careful of them. Since they are wild foxes, there’s a possibility of biting if provoked.
