In last year’s DC Fandome event, we got our first look at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Black Adam. Well, we heard his voice and saw a clip show but it was still cool. This year though, we ain’t getting no clip show. We got a chance to see the Wizard’s former champion in action, in the live-action flesh.
The opening scene sees two explorers entering into an ancient ruin of sorts. They see a crown floating above a pedestal. Perhaps an allusion to Black Adam’s past as the ruler of Kahndaq. After decrypting some ancient writing, the female explorer says the all-important word: SHAZAM! The Rock’s Black Adam then manifest before their very eyes.

A soldier approaches him, only to find himself choked and disintegrated by Black Adam’s lightning. The scene ends with the soldiers shooting bullets at him. They bounce off the magical being as he ascends into the air. So clearly that’s a lot to take in. Whether Black Adam will play the role of anti-hero or villain will have to be seen.
Joining The Rock will be former 007 actor Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindel as Cyclone and Noah Centino from the “To All The Boys” film series as Atom Smasher. Together, the four of them form the Justice Society of America (JSA). The original team of superheroes before Batman’s Justice League came together.
How will their stories tie in with the infamous Black Adam? Is there a greater threat than the both of them? We’ll find out come 29th July 2022!
