We might be living in the 21st century but in some parts of the world, girls are still not allowed to obtain proper education, women are still oppressed and not seen as an equal to the opposite gender. It is not a new issue, it has been a problem for centuries on end and it is not an easy fight.
Women around the world are still fighting for it, but one of the most prominent figure who has made a name fighting for women’s rights would be Malala Yousafzai. She has endured a lot of hardships previously, but on Tuesday (9th November), the young empowering lass announced good news to the world — she finally ties the knot!
This news came as a surprise to many as she had previously told Vogue, “I still don’t understand why people have to get married“, stating how she wasn’t even sure about settling down. She previously disagreed on the concept of marriage but instead stood by the concept of partnership without having to sign papers. Her beau Asser must be someone really special for her to have said yes.
The holy matrimony ceremony (nikkah) was held at their home in Birmingham where only their families were in attendance to celebrate together. “Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead”, she tweeted and posted the same thing on her Instagram.
Look at the lovely couple’s wedding photos — we absolutely love that salmon pink wedding dress on her (maybe we can agree that salmon pink is her colour). Her husband is also looking dapper in that wedding suit! Fellow notable names have also extended their congratulatory messages to the newlyweds, including the gorgeous Priyanka Chopra, fellow activist Greta Thunberg, and Canadian comedian Lilly Singh!
We too, from Hype, would like to congratulate her and wish her a happy and long blessed marriage life! We hope the couple will continue to fight for the good cause of women’s rights and education in the future and bring a change to the future generation.
