Photographers are somewhat like magicians because they create absolutely striking images by utilizing their imperfect surroundings in the most unimaginable ways. They achieve the necessary output no matter what. However, in professional photography, what happens behind the scenes is quite different from the picture-perfect, magnificent final products that often end up on social media. Fortunately, Gilmar Silva, a family photographer from Brazil, gives us the chance to witness what goes on behind the curtains. He shares his creative process with us, revealing the extent he goes to in order to capture the perfect shot.
Similar to the behind-the-scenes footage of photo assistants, the results depict the reality of a dedicated photographer’s life. In order to provide his clients with a satisfying output, Silva will photograph his clients in places we can never imagine. He sometimes lays on sand, grass, and even mud, just to capture the best moment. At other times, he makes his brother throw rice to get the effect of a shining background, and even mimics rain by misting water out of a bottle. The below photos also give us an insight into the extremely creative and imaginative minds of photographers. Isn’t it incredible how they can skillfully turn an anonymous, ordinary landscape into a totally breathtaking surrounding?
