In almost every city, we can find sculptures that remind us of its history, culture, etc. These incredibly unique creations can be generally spotted in city squares and streets. While some of these may look quite normal, others can be totally astonishing and catch us off guard. Some popular sculptures are not visually attractive, but they carry great messages, stories, and parts of history along with them. Isn’t that amazing?
The oldest known statue in the world is titled “Venus of Hohle Fels”, and this was created around 33.000 – 38.000 BCE. Like everything else, sculpture art has changed and evolved immensely since then. Initially, sculptures were a form of representing the surroundings and soon changed into a method of honoring deities. During the classical period, sculptures were vastly used to commemorate renowned people. In the present, modern sculptures mostly represent ideas instead of a specific subject.
