Hype Picks: Things To Do In Klang Valley This Week (28th February-6th March)

As March marches in and Februa-leaves, one thing remains – which is our dedication to bring you the latest line up of fun activities to do this week! Now time does fly, does it?

To kick off this month, we have a slew of musical events happening around Kuala Lumpur, an immersive exhibition championing women in honour of International Women’s Day, a unique event for all you coffee addicts, and more. If you feel like you’ve got what it takes to compete in Miss Universe Malaysia, auditions are open too.

1. “Min’yo” Japanese Folk Songs Concert

Date: 8pm, 4th-5th March 2022

Location: Pentas 1, Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac)

This weekend, you will get the chance to experience the Japanese culture through music with the Min’yo concert organised by the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur (JFKL). Not only that you’ll get to enjoy traditional Japanese folk songs, you’ll also get to enjoy the sounds of Borneo with their guest musician, Alena Murang.

2. Joven Goce @ Pisco Night Live

Nothing beats good tacos and cocktails accompanied by live music after a long day at work! Head over to Pisco this Thursday to wind up with Joven Goce as he performs music that ranges from pop, classic all the way to contemporary for you to sing along throughout the night.

3. T4YP’s The Emperor’s New Clothes or How The Procession Has Got To Go On

Date: 8pm, 3rd-5th March 2022 / 3pm, 6th March 2022

Location: Pentas 2, Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac)

Join 6 different youths of Keluarga Malaysia from various backgrounds come together and attempt to stage Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes” for you this week. Not only that you’ll get to experience as an audience, but you’ll also might have a chance to be involved in the dramaturgies, points of views and histories of these six youths.

4. Recrafting Stories: A Decolonial Pursuit

Location: Small Shifting Space, 141, Jalan Petaling, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur

Change your perspective and open your mind by grabbing the chance to explore the process of decolonialism through crafts (artisanship, music, literature, etc.) and storytelling with the exhibition organised by Dia Guild this Wednesday.

The exhibition also takes part in three series that will shift every week.

5. International Women’s Day Exhibition

Date: 11am-6pm, 22nd February-8th March 2022

Location: Digital Art Gallery, KEDAI KL

Join 8 pathfinding artists on an immersive exhibition this Women’s Day to envision a world free of bias, discrimination and stereotypes that celebrates every single individual identities.

6. Malaysia Coffee Week 2022

Location: One Utama Shopping Centre

Coffee lovers, gather around because this one’s for you. Head over this weekend to One Utama Shopping Centre to not only experience but also learn more about your favourite cup of caffeine, beans, and apparatus!

7. 7-Eleven 7th Cafe

If you’re looking for another new hobby this week, then maybe try going for modern embroidery! Don’t worry about falling behind in the class as it is catered for beginners and you will be taught various of different stitches and techniques that you will be able to use in the future.

10. Miss Universe Audition

Date: 10am-5pm, 5th March 2022 / 9am-12pm, 6th March 2022

Do you think you’ve got what it takes to be the next Miss Universe? If you think you’re the whole complete package of beauty with brains, then this is your time to shine! Who knows, you might be the next face representing Malaysia and bring the crown back home! All you have to bring is your MyKad and a photocopy of it, along with three recent photos of your face, mid-length and full-length shot.

From vampire to Batman, we’ve been anticipating Robert Pattison’s version of the Dark Knights ever since it was officially announced. Bat-Mania is going to be a very global fever, mark our words!
