Hype Eats: Satisfy Your Local Cravings With Cititel Mid Valley’s Bamboo Biryani

Bamboo Biryani

As Malaysians, going to mamaks for quick lunches and late suppers is practically a birthright. From roti tissue to the classic maggie goreng, the mamak experience is one you can’t go without if you claim you’re Malaysian at heart. But with work getting hectic and most of us returning to the office, heading out to your local mamak for lunch is no longer an easy task.

Well, if you’re looking to satisfy your Indian and mamak food cravings without having to travel all the way back home, then Citi Cafe’s weekly Bamboo Biryani is sure to tickle your fancy as it did ours. And luckily for us, we had the pleasure to experience their food in an unforgettable dining experience!

Located in Cititel Mid Valley Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Citi Cafe has launched a weekly promotion for their bamboo biryani, available every Wednesday. The cafe is spacious and has a quiet ambience to its surroundings.

Here, whether you’re more of a chicken or lamb lover, or if you enjoy something more plain and simple, their special menu has you covered as Citi Cafe offers the classic Plain Briyani (RM15), Bamboo Chicken Briyani (RM20), Lamb Briyani (RM28) and their special Lamb Shank Briyani (RM40) for you to choose from.

Speaking of the biryani rice, it was truly the star of the whole dish. Cooked in a large bamboo stick, the fragrance of the rice was brought out amazingly, especially when paired with their aromatic vegetable curry, dhal and raita.

To say that their lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender would be an understatement. The meat was easy to chew and the curry and dhal sauces complimented the biryani rice extremely well. The unique blend of all the sauces together along with the bamboo biryani was truly an experience to be had in person!

Not only that, but alongside their main dish, you can also order from a list of amazing side dishes. In particular, their Kerala Grilled Fish (RM15), Madras Fish Head Curry (RM20), Malabar Prawn Masala (RM20) and Fried Squid (RM20) are just a few among their menu that really blew us away.

The fried squid, especially, was one of our personal favourites. The crispy outer layer really did bring out the chewy and tenderness of the squid, while also giving the whole dish a nice savoury and sweet taste to really compliment the briyani rice well.

So, the next time you’re craving some good, old fashioned briyani rice with a twist, make sure to head on over to Citi Cafe in Mid Valley Megamall on Wednesdays to eat till your heart’s content! For as low as RM15, your food cravings will be satisfied just like that.
