Malaysia is a multicultural country. One of the things that Malaysians are truly proud of is of course, our insanely huge variety of local cuisines and delicacies ranging from various ethnic backgrounds for they to freely enjoy, especially if it is halal.
Sadly though, there are still some people who are skeptical of those from other races. Just like what this Malaysian went through recently. The woman, Farahin, shared with a local portal on how a food delivery rider confronted her for ordering food from an Indian restaurant.
“As a customer and Malaysian representative, I think that there is nothing wrong for all races to eat at any halal shop,” Farahin spoke to WOB. According to her, she had ordered some thosai and idly from an Indian eatery in Sungai Buloh to be delivered to her home.
She then received a text from the rider to confirm that she’s a Muslim. After responding to the rider, they wrote to Farahin, “Did you know that this is an Indian shop? Original Indian. This is not a Mamak shop.” Seemingly disheartened by the rider’s message, she remarked, “Are there any rules stating that Malays can’t eat at Indian shops? Food delivery riders should only do what their duties and responsibilities are and not be so judgmental.”
In concluding her chat with the portal, Farahin stated that she hopes food delivery services will take into account how their employees behave and interact with customers while taking orders from customers.
What would be your reaction if you were at Farahin’s place?
