A young lady from Taiping, Perak, stole the attention of many netizens after a video of her stunning transformation from a female to a male went viral on social media recently.
In the video posted on her TikTok @hell0angah0.2, the tomboy, known simply as Angah, was seen looking like a completely different person in modest clothing and also a hijab. At the time of writing (Monday, 7th March), Angah’s post received10 million views on the app!
Speaking exclusively to mStar, Angah (full name Norhidayatul Asmiera Md Asadzzman Hoque) shared that she never takes criticism surrounding her appearance to heart. “I’m comfortable being like this. I’m neither a rough nor tough person, but I like dressing up in masculine clothing since I was 12. My family also reprimanded me. If I did something wrong, they’ll scold me,” the 19-year-old said.
“My mom also objected (against my decision) and asked me to put on the hijab. But deep in their heart, my parents know that someday I’ll change for the better. I myself am able to differentiate between the good and the bad,” she remarked, before adding that she has grown tired of receiving backlash about her choice of outfits.
Instead, Angah stated that she is never bothered with hate mails from netizens. “What I do is, I don’t expect people’s judgment, but I do it for my own satisfaction. I never bother to censor myself. I accept all the reprimands, and also the kind words left by them. Who knows, all of their prayers will eventually come true,” she added in the chat.
Regarding her viral video, Angah revealed, “The photo shoot was for Datuk Aliff Syukri’s latest collection. He offered me to become a model for his fashion label, and I accepted it with open arms. I never expected for this opportunity to come knocking at the door.”
“The session has just taken place this week and is not over yet,” she further added. “Frankly speaking, I don’t feel awkward donning women’s modest wear, because I was born a woman. It’s not that I’m not used to (wearing female clothes). Every time the Raya season comes, I would wear baju kurung. I’ve never worn kurta during Eid. I only dress like a guy during my daily appearance.”
We really can’t wait to take a look at the final results of the photo shoot! For more of Angah and her daily content, feel free to check her out on TikTok here.
