Sharifah Rose can’t seem to catch a break from all the public’s intense scrutiny against her, especially after her plagiarism controversies made nationwide headlines earlier in February.
Just when we thought the backlash had died down, the local influencer once again found herself in hot waters after several netizens claimed that the hijab design from her Sekuntum brand looked somewhat similar to another artwork belonging to an international artist.
However, Rose was quick to clarify that she didn’t plagiarise the design, but instead has already paid for the artwork. According to her, “I would never sell a copycat product that’s not our standard. You can judge from our design iteself.” Despite that, many are still not buying her explanation.
One particular Twitter user, @ShamsulAmin_, even compared the ongoing issues involving the “Kekasih Hati Mr. Bodyguard” star with fashion entrepreneur Vivy Yusof’s plagiarism controversies. “So basically Sharifah Rose is Vivy Yusof 2.0. This is obviously intellect property infringement. It’s a fraud. From the branding to product design. I wonder why there are still people who support products like this.”
In other words, Sharifah Rose should’ve said “Yes, we reprint but only certain designs that represent our brand” instead of going on the “kita bukan copycat”
It’s not illegal if she bought the license, just lack of originality. https://t.co/2j5Ua2lWAc

Perhaps, the 23-year-old should be extra careful, and also do some more research in order to prevent similar issue from happening again in the future.
