People will always have something to say about things they don’t understand. For instance, people in the LGBTQ+ community are always targets of hate speech, hate crimes and other forms of discriminations.
Those in the transgender spectrum, depending the individual themselves, can identify as transgender, transsexual, trans-nonbinary, gender-fluid, etc. Some will use the conventional ‘he’, ‘she’ and/or ‘they’ pronouns but this particular person is going by a different, new and very peculiar identity and pronouns.
This person identifies as fishgender and uses toy/toyself pronouns. Toy’s parents must be so proud. pic.twitter.com/m5J95DIdOo

Twitter user @libsoftiktok shared a TikTok video showing a person sharing their pronouns to their followers. The original video is posted by user @vivacringe (goes by the name Sol Joe on their social media) who shared to their followers that they identify as ‘Fishgender’ and uses ‘toy/toyself’ or ‘fish/fishself’ pronouns.
For your information, these pronouns would be classified as neo-pronouns as they are pronouns beyond ‘she’, ‘he’, ‘they’, ‘one’, and ‘it’. The ‘fishgender’ identity can be classified under xenogender which a non-binary gender that is defined not in relation to male or female but by characteristics connected to a thing or concept.
The original video gained over 51.8k views, 1,453 likes and comment section have been disabled. The TikTok video attracted attention of mostly homophobic and transphobic people commenting that Sol Joe is mentally ill or problematic which resulted in the comment section on the original video to be disabled. Many quote tweeted the video on Twitter shared by @libsoftiktok expressing their confusion and anger.
Some tweets are just people being confused but not necessarily hating on Sol Joe. They simply don’t know how to react or process the information. If you’re wondering if Sol Joe is joking about toy/fish’s identity and pronouns, there’s a follow up video with the caption, “my p*nouns are still they/toy/fish.”
Though toy’s pronouns and identity are unconventional, Sol Joe seems to be happy with toy’s life. If you’re still confused or don’t understand what’s going on, there are bigger things to worry about so best we’ll just leave it here. As the saying goes, “if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
