Infamous Comedian Jocelyn Chia Thinks She Inspired The 1975’s Matty Healy To Be “Cancelled” By Malaysians

If you’ve been reading the news, you’ve probably heard about the controversial kiss between The 1975’s frontman Matty Healy and bassist Ross MacDonald at the recent Good Vibes Festival (GVF). Not only did the incident end up with the cancellation of the music festival, but the band could also face a possible class-action lawsuit by GVF artists and vendors.

Following the cancellation, many artists shared their disappointment over what happened – but of course, there are still some who are somewhat happy with what Matty did. One of those people is infamous comedian Jocelyn Chia, who took to Twitter to “welcome” the band’s frontman to the list of individuals cancelled by Malaysians.

If you don’t remember her, the former Singaporean was previously witchhunted by Malaysians for mocking the MH370 plane crash. After the incident at the music festival, she shared several tweets reacting to the fiasco and mocking Malaysia. In her tweet, the comedian said Malaysia has “figured out the formula for making world news” but added that the formula also gets disgraced artists more fame. Before ending her post, Jocelyn even wondered if Matty was inspired after “seeing me on the front page of BBC“.

Of course, her tweets were not well-received by Malaysians, but most netizens just shrugged off the comedian’s remarks. One netizen asked for Jocelyn to move on because she’s no longer relevant, and another said this is just another example of “cheap recognising cheap”. Some joked that the funniest part about the comedian’s joke was the statement of her being “one of the cool kids”.

We hate to give her any more attention – but her tweets are proof that: once a clout chaser, always a clout chaser.
