Those who have been using Android smartphones or devices have probably considered switching over to iPhones and Apple devices. However, many are still hesitant to make that transition due to uncertainty when it comes to Apple products.
Much like everyone else, tech influencer Kate Tan also had her worries and concerns when switching over from Android to iOS but the content creator does not regret taking the leap o faith as the move has helped her become even more productive with her work and more.
Transition To iPhone & Work Productivity
When we spoke with Kate Tan, she revealed that, among many reasons, she switched to iPhone was simply because of the AirDrop feature which has helped her in her line of work. ” As a content creator, transferring files wirelessly between my iPhone 14 Pro and MacBook in a seamless and quick manner is very important especially when attending back-to-back events and I have to edit content on the go,” she said.
Apart from other personal data like contacts or notes, videos and photos are obviously super important for any content creator. It is everyone’s worst nightmare to lose their precious content. Kate also wondered if there was a risk of losing her content when transferring all the data from one device to another but thankfully for the influencer, everything went smoothly. She explained that the latest iOS now comes with a data migration feature that helps you seamlessly transfer your data from your old device to the new iPhone.
The YouTuber shared that using an iPhone, alongside other Apple products, has helped maximised her productivity. She explained, “My workflow involves a lot of photo and video editing, and AirDrop as I mentioned earlier, is a huge advantage when transferring tons of files between my iPhone and MacBook. It helps speed up my process in content creation.” She also revealed that she uses her iPhone as a webcam, plus her iPad as a second monitor when editing videos while on her Macbook.
When talking about her favourite features on the iOS 16, aside from AirDrop, Kate added that she enjoys Lift Subject for creating fun, eye-catching thumbnails for her social media. Landscape Face ID has apparently made it easier for her to unlock her screen as she doesn’t need to hold it up straight for the phone to detect her face. According to the tech influencer, the iPhone 14 Pro’s Camera’s Cinematic Mode gives the best mobile videography experience. “I can shoot in 4K HDR at 24fps, and I can even edit the depth effect in post-production, that’s so amazing and practical for users like me,” she said.
As for her favourite feature that is most helpful when creating content, Kate shared, “The native photo editing tool in the Photos app is good enough for the everyday regular user. You can simply copy-paste your edits to multiple photos and videos, this helps keep my social media feed looking consistent!” As a way of expressing herself through her devices, the tech-savvy public figure is glad that she’s able to personalise her Lock Screen, wallpaper, and Widgets to fit her style.
iOS 17 & What She Hopes To See In A Future Update
As someone who is always up to date on the latest news on iOS updates, Kate shared what new features or apps she’s looking forward to the most in iOS 17. At this point, it’s pretty obvious that she loves the AirDrop feature so it’s no surprise that the YouTuber is very much looking forward to the enhanced version of AirDrop as announced at the WWDC23.
“I like how I can send large files over AirDrop, leave for lunch and have it continue the transfer process over the Internet. Not to mention, NameDrop is going to be so useful for me at events,” she elaborated. The influencer was actually one of the lucky ones who got to try out the public beta version of iOS 17 and revealed she’s looking forward to the new StandBy feature which she described works like a bedside alarm clock but better.
Kate listed down all the things she’s excited about the most in a YouTube video which you can watch here:
As technology continues to advance, we as users are also anticipating better software or hardware updates, and Kate Tan is no exception. When asked what she hopes to see in a future iOS or features update, she answered, “I want to see a video recording feature that mimics the way videos are recorded on TikTok. The ability to pause video recording, then resume shooting where it left off, all saved as one video file, would be really fun to have.”
We have to agree that a camera feature like that would definitely help lessen the time and burden of editing the footage together. After seeing how iPhones and Apple devices have helped Kate Tan in her professional and personal life, are you confident in switching over from your Android devices now?
