Korean Rapper Sik-K Removed From Pinkfish Music & Arts Festival Due To Drug Abuse Controversy?

Apart from the annual highly anticipated Good Vibes Festival later this July, music fans have been looking forward to the Pinkfish Music & Arts Festival 2024 which will soon take place on 8th June at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach! Fans will be treated to international acts like Armin van Buuren and Miss Monique plus local acts like DOLLA and Ismail Izzani.

Korean rapper Sik-K (식케이) was also scheduled to perform at the upcoming event but unfortunately, there’s been a change in the artist lineup. Here’s what happened:

Yesterday (Wednesday, 29th May), the organiser for the Pinkfish Music & Arts Festival 2024 took to social media to announce that Sik-K will no longer be performing at the upcoming event due to unforeseen circumstances. “We sincerely apologise to fans who were eagerly anticipating his performance and understand that this may be disappointing news,” the statement reads.

The organiser added that the festival will proceed as scheduled and hopes that everyone will still have an enjoyable time. While the actual reason for the sudden lineup change was not specified, many assumed that it may have something to do with the rapper’s legal troubles earlier this year.

According to Korean media, Sik-K was involved in a drug abuse case back in January and reportedly turned himself in to the police while still disoriented after surgery. However, at the time, his identity was not disclosed as the case was still being investigated. It was only back in April last month that the information about his drug possession and consumption became public.

The artist was previously scheduled to perform at the Hip Hop Playa Festival in Seoul on 4th May but was then removed from the lineup, possibly due to the drug controversy. So now begs the question, was he removed from Pinkfish Music & Arts Festival for the same reason? We may never get an answer but we do hope that disappointed fans who were looking forward to his set will still be able to enjoy the festival.
