Yesterday (20th May), many Chinese celebrities took to social media to confess their love for their partners in conjunction with Chinese Valentine’s Day, a.k.a 520 Day. One of those celebrities is Taiwanese singer Peter Pan Yuwen (潘裕文), who announced to fans that he’s in a relationship!
The singer shared the news on social media on the night of 20th May (Monday), writing to his fans, “Today is 520. I have a message to share with everyone. Uncle Pan is not single. My other half is a Malaysian singer, Zen Jun Qian (俊倩).” He also shared more details about their love life, including that the two are in a long-distance relationship. In his post, Peter also shared photos of him and his girlfriend, believed to be taken during a date.
Zen, also known as Zen Wong, is a 31-year-old singer-songwriter from Malaysia. According to reports, Peter and Zen have known each other for a long time but only started dating in 2022. However, as Peter lives in Taiwan and Zen is based in Malaysia, they had to maintain a long-distance relationship for a while. Despite the challenges, the two managed to pull through and have been together for around two years.
In celebration of the announcement, Peter also released a love song dedicated to Zen and their relationship. The song, titled “7AM”, was released on music platforms on 21st May and talks about the couple’s experience as a long-distance couple. The song is composed by Malaysian singer Firdhaus Farmizi (菲道爾) with lyrics written by Peter, who said the title represents a flight boarding time, which signifies when the couple have to part at the airport.
In an interview with China Press, the vocalist also shared how he feels about the relationship. According to Peter, he didn’t expect to keep the relationship secret for a long time. He also said that since the two can’t spend much time together due to the distance, they are more understanding of each other and cherish every moment they spend together. Peter added that the relationship has made him become a more mature and emotionally stable person.
