Beloved Malaysian singer Shila Amzah has always been a hands-on mother and often shares her journey with raising a toddler and a newborn. In a recently posted Instagram Reel, the vocalist shared a heartfelt update about her 4-year-old son, Seth Uwais. In the post, Shila revealed that Seth has been diagnosed with level one autism, bringing a sense of relief and understanding after initial concerns about his development.
The 33-year-old singer expressed in her post, “Seth has been diagnosed with level one autism. Alhamdulillah, I had a feeling it could be either autism or ADHD” (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder). Shila Amzah had expressed her concern back in 2022 when a doctor suspected that her eldest son might have autism. Since then, there were updates from the public figure sharing that Seth was improving, though this was just speculation. Now, the singer feels relieved to have a confirmed diagnosis for her son.
She also called for prayers and support from her followers: “Please pray that Seth can grow and learn well. Pray for (my husband and I) as parents, that we can raise him well.” According to the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders by the American Psychiatric Association, individuals diagnosed with level one autism require minimal support. Symptoms may include difficulty initiating social interactions, unconventional responses to social cues, and challenges with switching between activities, among others.
Following her post, the response from netizens has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising Shila’s proactive and optimistic approach. Local actress Fasha Sandha commented, “Seth is a smart kid who will become the pride of his mum and dad. Love your positive energy. May Allah ease everything.” Another netizen added, “I love parents who aren’t in denial. Nothing is wrong with an autistic kid.”
Seth is Shila’s first child from her previous marriage to Haris Idraki Elias, which ended in divorce in 2022. The singer later married social media influencer Muhammad Ubaidillah Mohd Zulkefli on August 5 last year, just six months after making their relationship public.
The couple recently welcomed their first child together, a baby daughter named Rhea Akira, on 9th May. As Shila Amzah navigates this new chapter with her family, her openness and positivity continue to inspire and resonate with many.
