5 Interesting Fun Facts About “Jinny’s Kitchen 2” Starring Park Seo Joon

Producing director Nah Yung-suk, Lee Seo-jin, Jung Yu-mi, Park Seo Joon, Choi Woo-shik, and Ko Min-si recently gathered at a local press conference in Seoul to discuss their new show “Jinny’s Kitchen 2” (서진이네 시즌2). The new season of the unscripted show centres around the cast of famous actors opening and running a Korean restaurant in Reykjavík, Iceland.

With the cast cooking and serving up delicious Korean dishes, there’s lots to look forward to. The show will be available on Prime Video in Malaysia and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Check out why you won’t want to miss out below.

1. Iceland’s first Korean restaurant, Jinny’s Pot

Nah Yung-suk explained why Reykjavík, Iceland was selected for this season’s locale saying, “We often talked about preparing a hot bowl of soup in a cold country before. We looked at some countries with colder climates compared to Korea. When we looked into Iceland, we saw that there were no Korean restaurants run by Koreans. Since our goal is to share Korean food outside of Korea, we chose to open a Korean restaurant in the capital of Iceland.” The snowy views of Iceland is also a plus if you’re reeling from the hot summer.

2. The fun chemistry

The cast members of “Jinny’s Kitchen 2” have a lengthy history of working together on other shows like the “Youn’s Kitchen” series. Nah Yung-suk commented, “It’s hard to maintain a restaurant where the chemistry between everyone is this good. They were able to continue appearing in shows over several years, so I think the bond and collaboration between them has reached this peak. I wanted to show working within these great relationships in the most cheerful way possible.” Whether they’re joking around with one another or toiling while working together, there’s always fun cast chemistry to enjoy.

3. New Intern Ko Min-si

In addition to seeing the cast we know and love, we get to see Ko Min-si as the new intern. Nah Yung-suk shared that after contemplating who to pick for the new intern position, he was impressed by Ko Min-si’s past work experience due to her having worked as a wedding planner. Choi Woo-shik also complimented her great work ethic and called her the “maknae superintern.” Ko Min-si also said she’s “very nervous and excited,” she described the show as “a rare and precious experience,” and how she wanted to do her best to support the team.

4. The many chefs with different roles

Another new facet to enjoy is watching the team take turns being the chef of the day. Lee Seo-jin explained, “We take turns being the main chef in the kitchen, so we have different specialities which means the menus of the day vary.” Park Seo-jun added, “It was fun and refreshing to have the chef of the day change every day. You could experience working in both the kitchen and the hall.” Instead of everyone having the same role from start to end, viewers can enjoy seeing each team member tackle both their roles as well as being the chef of the day.

5. More than just a restaurant

Jinny’s Kitchen 2 is different from your typical restaurant show. The casts’ journey evokes many different emotions resulting in a feel-good experience. Nah Yung-suk explained, “Our show is a restaurant program but it is not a true restaurant. If the only goal was to share Korean food, we would have brought top chefs from Korea. We want to share Korean food overseas but we also want to show the process, the growth, the chemistry built from it, and how they work together. I think all of these things are just as important as operating the restaurant.”
