KLFW 2024 Launch, Rado TRX Opening, ‘Customs Frontline’ Briefing & More: Events We Hit Up This Week!

Another week, another whirlwind of totally EXTRA events! We were here, there and everywhere!

KL Fashion Week 2024 Media Launch

At the media launch of the 12th edition of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, we discovered that this year’s event will be set against the picturesque Petronas Twin Towers in a unique purpose-built structure from 29th July to 4th August 2024. With over 50 designers and brands geared up to showcase their ready-to-wear collections, attendees can look forward to contemporary designs that broaden the horizons of fashion, bold deconstructed pieces that challenge traditional norms, streetwear with a sophisticated makeover, and hybrid designs that blend comfort with high fashion.

Making their debuts at KLFW 2024 are ready-to-wear labels Akudesign, Corak, Ghostboy, LARNEY, SHALS and Tact, who have each made their mark amongst the digitally-savvy fashion crowd as new age cult favourites. Fuzana Mokhtaza will also be joining the likes of local fashion powerhouses Rizman Ruzaini, Fiziwoo, Nurita Harith and Alia Bastamam. Here’s what went down at the launch:

Rado The Exchange TRX Grand Opening 

We were on hand to witness Rado Malaysia celebrating a major milestone with the grand opening of its new boutique store in The Exchange TRX this week. With Rado CEO Adrian Bosshard in attendance, the inauguration also welcomed special guest, renowned cosplayer Hakken, to the celebrate the joyous ceremony.

“Customs Frontline” Press Conference

Prolific director Herman Yau (邱禮濤) and multi-talented actor Nicholas Tse (谢霆锋) were recently in town to promote their new movie, “Customs Frontline (海關戰線)” – and we met them at the press conference at Menara Khuan Choo in Bukit Bintang.

During the event, the two icons of Hong Kong cinema spoke about their new film, which also stars renowned actor Jacky Cheung (張學友). The duo shared some behind-the-scenes anecdotes, talked about what went down during filming, and gave the media a look into their plans for the future – including a potential chance at featuring Malaysia in a new film!

Salomon The Exchange TRX Grand Opening

Last month, it was announced that sports brand Salomon would be opening their very first store in Malaysia at The Exchange TRX – and this week, the day finally arrived. We attended the opening ceremony while wearing the brand’s iconic XT-6 shoes, and were captivated by all the store has to offer, apart from the awesome music by DJ Blink.

As mentioned in our previous article, the store features an array of exciting collections, including highly-anticipated S/LAB performance items known for their cutting-edge technology and design. URBAN REVIVO Official Launch 

URBAN REVIVO (UR) inaugurated its flagship store at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur recently, and we were among the invited guests. The milestone marked UR’s foray into the Malaysian market, promising an unmatched shopping experience set against the backdrop of one of the city’s premier shopping destinations.

Spanning an impressive 27,000 square feet on Pavilion Mall’s 4th floor, UR’s flagship store invites patrons into a realm of fashion diversity, featuring over a thousand items from eight womenswear and five menswear collections, alongside an extensive range of accessories. The store’s design concept, characterised by warm ocher tones and fluid curves, creates a captivating ambiance that blends elegance with contemporary flair.

The sensational K-pop group NEWJEANS have taken the world by storm – so what fan wouldn’t be excited by the announcement of the opening of their exclusive pop-up store in Malaysia? We got a preview of the limited-time pop-up store at 1Utama Shopping Centre, and we can say that fans will definitely be emptying those shelves before long.

Featuring two captivating themes ‘Supernatural’ and ‘How Sweet’, the store offers plenty of adorable and exclusive merchandise for fans! As we said, this is a limited-time thing, so you have until 22nd September to get your hands on all the fantastic items!
