Malaysian-born comedian Nigel Ng, better known as Uncle Roger, previously teased about his first restaurant, which will open in Malaysia. However, there wasn’t much information about the upcoming dining spot – until now!
Several food-related social media accounts have recently shared that the highly-anticipated Uncle Roger restaurant is at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, specifically Pavilion Elite. One post even shared photos of the soon-to-open restaurant, which is currently covered up. While there isn’t a name yet, the bright orange exterior made it clear that this restaurant belongs to the quirky character.
In addition to Uncle Roger-like exterior, the writings on the wall include the character’s favourite word, “Haiyaa”, and the phrase, “Good things take time. Wait long long”. There is also a notice for job openings by the door, revealing that the restaurant is still looking for people to fill the positions of managers and more. As for the official opening date, the restaurant is hoping to open its doors in September 2024, but there is no exact date.
Nevertheless, fans are already excited about the new restaurant. Many shared their menu predictions, hoping the restaurant’s signature dish would be fried rice, given how particular Uncle Roger can be on the dish. Some netizens also jokingly asked whether there would be exclusive discounts for customers wearing orange polo shirts or saying “haiyaa”. Others even ask whether Nigel would invite Jamie Oliver to the restaurant once it’s opened.
This restaurant will be Nigel’s first-ever official physical restaurant, but the 33-year-old already has some experience with the food industry, having released a meal kit in collaboration with US-based food company MìLà. Are you excited about Uncle Roger’s restaurant?
