Lay Zhang (张艺兴) has been a pretty busy man – touring the world and meeting fans. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean he doesn’t take time off to explore the country he’s visiting. The singer was recently spotted dining at Jalan Alor before his big show, and some lucky fans even managed to take photos with him.
Although the EXO member has been active in sharing his Malaysia trip on his social media, fans still wanted to see more of what he did during his free time in the country. It looks like their prayers have been answered cause the “Psychic” artist actually vlogged his experiences at a local night market the night before his concert.
Yesterday (Thursday, 11th July) Yixing Studio posted a vlog on Weibo of Lay during his time in Malaysia. The singer can be seen exploring a night market, presumably in Jalan Alor, and the first thing he did was head to a satay stall. Not entirely surprising since he even wrote a song about how delicious the dish tastes.
During his search for the satay stall, he stopped by one of the vendors and bought himself twisted potatoes, which some fans speculated that the snack reminded him of his early EXO days. The idol was later shown dining at the Grand Sky restaurant in Jalan Alor, Bukit Bintang, the place where he was spotted by fans, where he finally ordered some satay for himself and his team.
The restaurant server even taught Lay how to order his food in Malay. “Bagi saya satu Sprite,” he repeated the words uttered by the staff. Before turning in for the night, the Chinese celeb stopped by to try a Coconut Milkshake, which he described as “quite delicious”, at a dessert stall. After the vlog was reposted by Malaysian fan accounts, many praised Lay for actually trying out the local night market instead of going to fancy indoor restaurants.
Some were amused by the fact that the singer immediately looked for satay the second he arrived at the night market. Others were glad to hear he enjoyed all the food and drinks he tried at the location. Who knows, perhaps Lay will recommend these stalls and restaurants to his member D.O (도경수) when he comes to Malaysia for his concert next month.

In other news, Lay couldn’t help but get emotional when his girl group R.E.D (四圣兽 ) finally made their debut. The singer served as their mentor on the show “Show It All” and in the latest episode that aired last night, the members showed their appreciation towards him by saying, “TEACHER ZHANG! WE WILL DEFINITELY MAKE YOU PROUD!!”, during their performance.
