INFINITE’s Kim Sung Kyu Took “Kontrol” Of KL Stage & Left M’sian Fans Buzzing With Excitement

Kim Sung Kyu (김성규), the leader of the legendary group INFINITE (인피니트), charmed his Malaysian fans at his first solo concert in Malaysia held at Zepp Kuala Lumpur, organised by D-SHOW, with Offbeat and 43 Agency as promoters. After kicking off the “LV3: Let’s Vacay” Asia tour in Seoul, Sung Kyu brought his dynamic stage presence to Kuala Lumpur, marking the first international stop of the tour. “LV3: Let’s Vacay” is the third installment in his LV concert series, and fans were delighted to see Sung Kyu continue his solo journey after his previous LV concerts, “Light & Voice” in April 2022 and “Like Your Vibes” in February 2023. The concert was filled with high-energy performances and heartfelt interactions, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next stops on his tour.

Over the weekend, Zepp Kuala Lumpur was transformed into a dazzling stage of brilliance and anticipation. On this first night of a two-night extravaganza, Sung Kyu took the stage by storm with performances that were nothing short of spectacular. His dynamic energy and mesmerizing talent turned the venue into a pulsating hub of excitement, promising that the second night would be just as phenomenal.

The night started off with a flawless opening, setting an electrifying tone for the rest of the show. Ocean blue light illuminated the stage, perfectly complementing the tour’s theme as the band members played the intro. Sung Kyu then made his entrance, donning a sleeveless jacket and shirt, and launched into “DIVIN” from his third album, “Inside Me”. The track’s cute and R&B vibes instantly hyped up the crowd with excitement and anticipation for what was to come.

After the exhilarating opening, Sung Kyu seamlessly transitioned into a set of five crowd-pleasing tracks that spanned his career from 2011 to 2023. He delivered fan-favourite classics like “Shine,” “Ready To Go,” “Because,” and “41th,” each performance highlighting his impressive vocal range and versatility. The inclusion of “Sometimes,” a recent release from last year, added a fresh and contemporary vibe to the first half of the concert.

The singer then took a short break from performing to connect with the audience. He expressed that it felt unusual performing solo in Malaysia for the first time, and the songs he had just performed were ones he usually sings in Korea, which made him slightly concerned about whether the crowd would keep up. However, his worries quickly faded as the fans enthusiastically responded, proving they were fully engaged and enjoying every moment.

As the night unfolded, INFINITE’s leader had the audience soaring with eight continuous electrifying hits, including “The Answer,” “Sentimental,” “Sorry,” “Till Sunrise,” “Climax,” “Small Talk,” “60sec,” and “Go Again.” The energy in the venue was palpable, with the crowd passionately cheering with their lightsticks raised and syncing with the music.

During the second break between performances, Sung Kyu expressed his admiration for the Malaysian fans, noting how impressed he was with their ability to sing along in Korean. He praised their understanding of the language and shared his recent experience performing in the “Dear Evan Hansen” musical, even treating the audience to a snippet of “Waving Through a Window,” which is a famous song from the project. The idol also mentioned his upcoming role in the musical “Kinky Boots” and encouraged fans to look forward to it, further exciting the crowd.

The concert rolled on with another five continuous performances, starting off the third half with an acoustic edition of “Fog” and “Like a Dream.” The energy soared as he performed “Jump,” “Savior,” and “It Will Be,” leaving the audience captivated as each song brought a fresh wave of excitement, making the night truly unforgettable.

As the concert neared its end, Sung Kyu playfully teased the audience with what he called the ‘last’ song of the night, “It Will Be.” The crowd immediately voiced their disapproval, clearly not ready for the evening to end, and began chanting “Come back” which is a lyric from the song “Kontrol.” As the final song finished and the lights dimmed, the fans erupted into chants for an encore, refusing to let the night conclude on that note.

Granting the fans’ wish, Sung Kyu returned to the stage for an encore, delivering not just one but four additional songs, including “Kontrol,” “My Everyday Is You,” “Casual Conversation,” and “Stuck On.” The choice of these tracks was perfect for wrapping up the first night of the show, each one elevating the energy in the venue. The high-spirited performances left the audience buzzing with excitement, ensuring the concert ended on a triumphant and unforgettable note, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the second-day concert.
