(Video) M’sian Actress Debbie Goh Travelled To Paris To See Lee Zii Jia’s Match In Person

Many Malaysians are still reeling that our national shuttler, Lee Zii Jia (李梓嘉), has won his first Olympic medal after defeating India’s Lakshya Sen in the badminton men’s single category. One of those Malaysians is homegrown actress Debbie Goh (吴天瑜), who recently shared how she got to cheer for the athlete in person.

Debbie recently shared a mini vlog on her Instagram account, showing her experience attending the bronze medal match at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena in Paris. According to the actress, she was in Paris during the Olympics and wished to watch a match before she left the city. As it was a last-minute decision, she immediately searched for tickets for the badminton men’s singles bronze medal match.

The 46-year-old revealed that a ticket to the match would’ve cost her around 215 to 320 euros (approximately RM1,050 to RM1,565), though it was all sold out on the official website. Meanwhile, tickets from scalpers would have cost her around 1,200 to 2,000 euros (RM5,870 to RM9,780). Thankfully, Debbie got a ticket to the match with the help of two “angels”, thus being able to watch Lee Zii Jia play his last game at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In the video, Debbie shared some highlights from the nerve-racking match between the two shuttlers – plus her many relatable expressions watching the game. She even showed glimpses of the other Malaysians supporting the national athlete at the arena. Towards the end, the former Miss Malaysia Chinese International shared the touching moment when Lee Zii Jia and coach Wong Tat Meng hugged each other after the 26-year-old finally won his first Olympic medal.

In her captions, Debbie thanked Lee Zii Jia for winning another medal for Malaysia at the 33rd Summer Olympiad. Many Malaysians have reacted to the actress’ video, with some expressing envy that she got to watch the momentous event in person. Debbie’s friend, Hong Kong actress Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), also called the win a “precious moment”.
