Fan Exposes “Scalper” For Trying To Scam Her Into Buying Taeyang’s KL Concert Tickets

Fans work hard but scammers might be working harder, however, they are not necessarily smarter. We’ve heard plenty of stories of how fans fall victim to these ticketing service scams in hopes of seeing their favourite artists live in concert. Some have paid hundreds only to be scammed by these tricksters.

In this recent case, one of these so-called “scalpers” tried to scam someone into buying concert tickets from them but the targeted victim immediately knew something was up from the message she received. Here’s what happened:

It was announced yesterday (Wednesday, 4th September), that  BIGBANG’s (빅뱅) Taeyang (태양)  will be coming to Malaysia this December for his “The Light Year” tour. After the videos of him performing with his members G-Dragon (권지용) and Daesung  (대성)  went viral last weekend, Malaysian fans have been looking forward to seeing what the idol has in store for his upcoming show at Axiata Arena.

Although many are excited about seeing the singer live, they’re not so easily fooled. One fan exposed a DM from a “scalper” who claimed that they had already secured tickets for the concert and offered to sell them to her. The most obvious clue that indicates that the message was a scam is the fact that Taeyang tickets have not been announced yet. “The tickets aren’t even out yet, why are you so eager to start??” the baffled fan captioned the screenshot.

The post garnered a lot of attention from netizens who found the whole thing humorous. Most joked that the “scalper” must be someone from the future while others playfully suggested that the person was Taeyang himself or one of the organiser’s staff.

While that specific DM was an obvious scam, the actual scalpers are ready to offer their services. Scrolling through Twitter, many have already started advertising to encourage fans to pre-book their slots to buy the Taeyang tickets from them when the time comes.

Ticketing platforms may not be perfect but it’s still strongly advised to buy your passes from official and verified sources rather than resellers since you can never be too sure.
