Nigerian YouTuber Geekception Decided To Further His Studies In Malaysia Because Of Xbox

International students have many reasons for furthering their studies in Malaysia. While most would cite quality education and great value as their reasons, one Nigerian chose Malaysia for a surprising reason – the Xbox.

Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Olalere, also known as Geekception, is a Nigerian YouTuber based in Kuala Lumpur. In response to an online discussion about the Xbox central processing unit (CPU), he shared how the gaming console inspired him to pursue his studies in Malaysia. Emmanuel revealed, “As a kid, I had an Xbox that I took apart to upgrade the hard disk. Underneath it, I saw the “Made In Malaysia” text. That stuck”.

The social media personality continued, saying he thought of Malaysia when deciding where to further his education. Emmanuel said, “If they can make Xbox, they’ll be a good country”. Funnily enough, despite being a country that manufactures Xbox CPUs, the gaming console isn’t available for sale in Malaysia. 11 years later, Emmanuel is still living in Malaysia and working as a full-time content creator – and a self-proclaimed pisang goreng ambassador.

His story received tons of attention, with many netizens pleasantly surprised to learn about his backstory. Many also showed amusement at his love for pisang goreng, even questioning his favourite toppings and dippings. Some showed interest in his work, particularly his photography of Malaysian sights and landmarks. Others wished him all the best with his content creation career.

It’s nice to hear how something so small can make a huge impact on someone’s life. We hope Emmanuel enjoys his life here in Malaysia and all the pisang goreng he can find.
