As K-pop continues to captivate audiences worldwide, its influence extends beyond music into the realm of high fashion. This year, several K-pop idols have stepped into prominent roles as luxury brand ambassadors, marking a significant crossover between the vibrant world of pop music and the elite fashion industry. Their high-profile partnerships underscore the growing synergy between these two realms, highlighting how the charisma and global appeal of K-pop stars are increasingly shaping fashion trends.
These endorsements not only reflect the idols’ personal style and influence but also signify a broader trend where the music industry’s biggest names become key figures in luxury branding. As brands seek to harness the star power and global reach of these idols, K-pop stars are redefining the traditional boundaries of celebrity endorsements. Here’s a look at five K-pop icons who are making significant waves as brand ambassadors in 2024.
1. Mingyu (SEVENTEEN)
SEVENTEEN’s (세븐틴) Mingyu (민규) has been in the spotlight with his dynamic performances and strong fashion presence. This year, he achieved a major milestone by becoming Dior’s newest ambassador in South Korea. His appointment underscores his growing influence in the fashion industry.
Dior highlighted the idol’s role in embodying the brand’s innovative creativity, stating, “A K-pop icon and member of SEVENTEEN, Mingyu has joined us as a Dior ambassador. Please look forward to the special collaboration between Dior and Mingyu, where boldness and creativity merge seamlessly.”
2. Jin (BTS)
Member of the globally renowned group BTS (방탄소년단), Jin (진) has recently been appointed as Gucci’s global ambassador. The announcement came shortly after the idol completed his mandatory military service and was seen sporting Gucci designs.
Gucci’s creative director, Sabato De Sarno, lauded Jin’s distinctive style and charm, stating, “His warm and kind personality is truly magnetic, and his style is simply unique. He is a generous and extraordinary artist who is able to move people with his music, which makes us even more honoured to share this journey with him.”
3. Lisa (BLACKPINK)
BLACKPINK’s (블랙핑크) Lisa (리사) was named Louis Vuitton’s ambassador, following the release of her single “Rockstar.” Fans had anticipated this appointment after Lisa’s notable presence at Louis Vuitton’s AW24 show and her references to the brand in her music.
Louis Vuitton’s artistic director praised the idol’s unique qualities, noting, “Beyond her irresistible confidence and charisma, Lisa also demonstrates bold creativity in her music and style. It is therefore a real privilege to be able to accompany her on this adventure.”
4. Danielle (NewJeans)
Celine has welcomed Danielle (다니엘) of NewJeans (뉴진스) as its new global ambassador. The announcement featured Danielle in a stylish monochromatic look, showcasing the brand’s Chelsea jacket and Paris boxy T-shirt. Although further details about her future collaborations with Celine are yet to be revealed, Danielle joins a prestigious group of ambassadors, including BTS’ V (뷔) and Park Bo-gum (박보검).
5. Ningning (Aespa)
In February, Versace named Ningning (닝닝/宁艺卓) of Aespa (에스파) as its newest global ambassador. Ningning, who had previously engaged with the brand at various events, expressed her excitement about the role, saying, “I feel a new strong attitude when I wear Versace, and I’m excited to share it with everyone in the hope that they too feel confident to share their own strength and power.” Her appointment highlights the ongoing synergy between K-pop and luxury fashion.
