DPR put on quite a show at their “The Dream Reborn” concert last night (Wednesday, 18th December) at Mega Star Arena. Many praised their performance and amazing setlist throughout the night, wishing the show would never end. Prior to the concert, member Ian (유바롬) was spotted socialising with some of his Malaysian friends around Kuala Lumpur.
While most enjoyed the event, many were left disappointed by what happened afterwards. On some occasions, fans would get to see the artists leaving the venue for the Hi-Bye session. This is the chance for them to see their idols up close and even thank them for an amazing evening but apparently, that’s not what happened last night.
Several fans posted videos on Twitter showing the crowd waiting outside JUMPA at Sungei Wang Plaza to bid farewell to DPR after their concert. From the social posts, Artic (디피알 아틱) and Cream (디피알 크림) were seen exiting the venue together, happily waving to everyone on both sides while expressing their gratitude for a fun night. However, for some reason, the venue’s shutter doors started closing, leaving fans to wonder if they would ever get to see Ian.
Realising they weren’t going to see the artist, the frustrated crowd began booing the event organisers for not allowing them to say goodbye to the DPR member. “We got scammed by CK! We only got to see Artic and Cream. We even gave space! They should’ve just proceeded with the Hi-Bye session. It’s not like we get to see them often,” one fan wrote on Twitter. The Twitter user claimed in the replies that a vehicle entered the mall before the shutter doors closed.
Another user recalled the incident, saying the crowd was getting a bit too frantic while waiting for DPR Ian to make his appearance, which explains why the organisers opted for a safer exit. While fans were sadly denied the opportunity to bid Ian goodbye, a few caught up with the car he was in to wave their goodbyes, to which he happily returned the gesture through the window.
As of this writing, neither CK Entertainment nor Mega Star Arena has addressed the backlash over the incident last night. Let’s hope there will be better crowd control next time to ensure that both the artists can exit the venue safely and fans can say goodbye to them up close.
