South Korean girl group 2NE1 (투애니원) has had a great run so far with their comeback tour, just recently closing up the last show in Macau. However, during the tour, member Park Bom (박봄) faced a lot of scrutiny for her actions on and off the stage.
Over the past few weeks, Park Bom sparked debate because of her behaviour during the group’s recent shows. The idol, who has a history of health issues, wasn’t performing her best during the concert. There were many instances of the vocalist being in a daze and skipping her parts while the group was on stage. At one point, the singer also left the stage mid-show due to health concerns.
In addition to her physical state, there were also concerns about the star’s mental health. Recently, Park Bom faced criticism for her social media postings involving actor Lee Minho (이민호). In the posts, the 40-year-old called the actor her “husband”, prompting Lee Minho’s agency to clarify his relationship with the 2NE1 member. There were also speculations that Park Bom had a rift with her members after they spent time without her.
Amidst the growing concern, a representative from Park Bom’s side spoke to media outlets and addressed the current situation. The representative explained that the singer’s recent behaviour on stage is “purely a physical issue”, saying, “She tends to exert a lot of energy in the early stages, causing her to tire out as the show goes on.”. They also said that the singer had tried her best to continue performing, but her stamina couldn’t keep up.
Unfortunately, the statement never touched on the issue of Park Bom’s social postings. Nevertheless, the representative also announced that Park Bom would take a break from her schedule until 2NE1’s next performance. The group will hold the tour’s encore concerts in Seoul on 12th and 13th April 2025. During her break, Park Bom will focus on recovering her health, improving her stamina and managing her mental well-being.
We’re sure a break will do her good – and we can’t wait to see Park Bom get healthier and stronger.
