SG Boys Consenting To Being Urinated On Causes Outrage Online

People often use the phrase “Boys will be boys,” to explain a guy’s actions. But sometimes, it’s used to excuse and defend their behaviour.

A video of two boys being urinated on went viral yesterday (22nd March). Many claimed it was a clear case of being bullied, but in a surprising twist of events, one of the boys claimed it was consensual.

The video showed two boys squatting in a shower cubicle while nude. Three pairs of boys entered the cubicle and took turns to pee on them. The bystanders in the background could be heard shouting things like, “Pee at the hair!” and “Eh, you all better pee ah!” When one of the victims turned on the shower, someone cried, “No showering!

The boys are suspected to be from Singapore’s Ngee Ann Polytechnic Student’s Union (NPSU). Some of them were seen wearing a design on their shirts from their 2019 freshman orientation camp. As students wearing masks were glimpsed in the video, it is assumed that this was fairly recent. Mothership states that Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) is still investigating the matter.

Shortly after the video was released, a student claiming to have been one of the boys who was peed on posted a statement on his Instagram story to clarify the matter. He claimed that the comments about the video were over-the-top as he didn’t consider the action bullying. In fact, he stated it was “just mindless fun” to him. “(To be honest), y’all just gotta chill mans!” he exclaimed. “They (His friends) just did something consensual but y’all make it to be like such a bully story, it’s not!

He also asked the public to stop sharing the video as it made him uncomfortable. He added that he would be answering any queries via direct messaging on Instagram. However, Mothership stated his account has been made private or removed.

Netizens were outraged, both by the video and the student’s flippant attitude. Many blamed the parents and the students’ upbringing. Some were insistent it was a bullying case, regardless of what the student said. A few comments also suspected that the student was coerced into writing the statement.
