People often say, “If we do good to others, we will be rewarded for our kindness in return.”
The famous quote comes to mind when we heard about the story involving a Grab Car driver, as shared by his wife, Nurul Abdul Rahman on her TikTok @hidayah.lulu.
According to Nurul, she was initially surprised when she came across a plastic envelope containing a piece of hand-written note that was addressed to the Grab Driver. She said, “I was nervous all of a sudden. I thought maybe someone had sent a love letter to my husband.”
“But still, I wasn’t sure how this person could remember the (plate) number of this car, because there was no e-hailing sticker attached when I drove his car. Oh my, turns out this is a letter from my husband’s customer,” the lady from Terengganu shared.
She further added, “I brought this up to him when I got home. He told me that it’s actually an old story (a couple of months ago to be exact). He didn’t expect to hear back from the customer. Plus, that particular passenger wasn’t from the area (Nurul’s work place).”
It was later revealed that the driver had offered the customer a ride for free, as the latter only had RM50 cash in hand (the trip from Hospital Penawar Pasir Gudang to Air Biru MMHE flat only cost RM5). At that time, the driver wasn’t carrying any small change, since the passenger was his first customer that day.
The grateful customer wrote,“Today I wish to pay back the fare, along with some tips for your Grab service. My sibling-in-law (the other passenger) and I are truly grateful for your kindness. May you always be blessed and we pray that everything you’re doing will be eased.”
The Grab employee in question was touched by the gesture after he found out that the customer had gone through the trouble to search for him in order to pay back their debt. “Whoever this person is, thank you for praying for my husband and also for the tips given 🥺” Nurul remarked.
