These 10 Emojis Are Used By Old People According To Young People

Do you ever look at text with just a single emoji, then laugh to yourself because you’d have to be ‘old’ to be sending such a thing? Maybe not. However, today’s younger generation thinks otherwise. A new survey suggests that young people think that using particular emojis makes you a person from the older generation.

As claimed by this survey, those that are still using the ‘thumbs up’ emoji are officially old. 16-29 year-olds voted it as the ‘single uncoolest emoji’ with 24% of the vote. Sending a ‘red heart’ gathered 22% of the votes and an ‘OK hand’ gained 20%. Also, 16% of the votes were for sending a ‘crying face’.

17% of young people voted that sending the ‘check mark’ that says ‘done’ is seriously uncool and cringeworthy. Another 17% voted for the ‘poo emoji’, 15% voted for the ‘monkey with hands over face’ emoji, and 10% voted for the ‘clapping hands’ emoji. In general, the most famous emoji among all ages was the ‘laughing face crying tears of joy’ emoji, gathering 45% of the votes from over 2000 Brits. The least popular emoji across all ages was the ‘sinister skull and crossbones’ emoji, gaining just 28% of the votes.

On another note, it turns out that most people have no idea about the meanings behind the emojis they use. 78% of Brits admitted that they have used an emoji innocently, before finding out that it had a ruder meaning. Also, 22% include multiple emojis in a text to make the meaning clearer.
