K-pop group OnlyOneOf (온리원오브) recently came back with their 3rd EP, “Instinct Part 1”, promoting the title track “Libido”, and netizens have been buzzing about them. But are they for the right reasons?
For those who are curious, the term libido refers to sexual instinct, sexual impulse or sexual drive, which reflects the group’s concept and performance for their comeback this time around.
During the showcase event held prior to their first live performance of the song on the music show “M Countdown”, the members explained, “We put in a lot of effort to break the existing boundaries. This album is the most instinctive album to show the endless challenges and attempts that OnlyOneOf is making.”
“This is a topic that other groups were careful about doing and is also considered taboo. However, there are a lot of artists in the past and even the present have turned what is called human instincts into art. So, OnlyOneOf has sublimated the most basic parts of humans into music,” eldest member Kyubin (KB) further clarified.
During one part of the performance, two OnlyOneOf members, Love and Nine, could be seen getting handsy with each other. The latter member moves his hand slowly down the backside of his fellow teammate. The back of Love’s jacket back is cut open, exposing his entire back.
The subsequent dance move features Nine putting his hand suggestively in between Love’s legs, groping his crotch. He ends this part of the choreography by gliding his hand down the thigh of his member. Other sequence shows the two aforesaid members simulating in oral sex act, as well as the act of being tied up.
The boy group’s performance of “Libido” was shared on an online community which has received up to 2,000 comments from K-netizens. The video was met with tons of backlash from K-netizens in response to OnlyOneOf’s highly explicit dance moves for the track.
Some even pointed out that they felt uncomfortable while watching the clip. On the contrary, there were also a few fans of the seven-member group out there who commented that they enjoyed the group’s bold performance.
