Recently, the Petaling District Health Office ordered 19 schools to be closed down in Petaling District following the Covid-19 outbreaks in Selangor on 19th April.
According to district health officer Datuk Dr. Mohamed Paid Yusof, clusters found in these schools had forced them to close down. Moreover, the reopening of these schools will be notified two days prior to the date.
The district health officer stated, “In order to conduct control and prevention activities the schools mentioned below have been ordered to close so we can do disinfection and close contact tracing as well.”
Paid also mentioned, “Failure to follow this order is an offence under Section 22(b) Act 432 and can be subject under Section 24(a) that carries a jail sentence of no more than two years or fines.”

Furthermore, Paid also exclaimed, “The schools must conduct disinfection, ensure all positive cases are quarantined, provide a list of names and contacts to the district health office and all those deemed as close contact must attend their swab test or provide them with their quarantine papers.”
The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed that 2,341 cases were reported yesterday on 20th April, which includes 2,334 local cases and seven imported cases. As of now, Malaysia currently has 21,268 active cases in the country with three new deaths reported yesterday.
