As stated in the updated SOPs for the ongoing MCO 3.0 period, restaurants as well as food premises are only allowed to operate until 8pm only.
Although the MCO period has been running for more than a year, there are still restaurants that have exceeded the specified business hours due to its orders. Among the places that have failed to adhere to the rules, include the McDonald’s outlet in Gombak.

In a post shared by Twitter user known as Ben (@iebal_ben), the issue apparently occurred due to the overwhelming amount of orders received by delivery riders on several food delivery apps. As a matter of fact, there were also a few riders who had to wait from 6:30pm for their orders to be prepared!
Ben’s tweet was also reposted on blogger Rizal Hakimm’s Facebook page. Many netizens reacted by expressing their sympathy for the riders who had to wait a long time while waiting for the foods ordered by the customers to be ready. Others also suggested for McDonald’s franchise to close their online ordering system earlier to avoid the mishap.
According to the netizen, the McDonald’s outlet located in Medan Idaman, Gombak, however, has since been ordered to close by the authorities for allegedly flouting the MCO 3.0 SOPs.
