Following the approval from the Drug Control Authority (DCA) of Malaysia last week, parents can now help their children register for the Covid-19 vaccination on the MySejahtera app.
You can do so by clicking on the “Add Vaccine Dependent” option under the “Vaccination” category, and proceed to fill in the child’s relevant details.
Previously, the MySejahtera system only allowed one to register family members over 18 years old. Since its update, the column has changed to “I confirm that my dependent is over 12 years old”. Do note that once you’ve added this dependent on your account, this individual’s IC number cannot be registered on another MySejahtera app.
Several people have tried registering for their high school teenagers on MySejahtera and were successful. The government previously confirmed that the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) had approved the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for use in children aged 12 years and above. However, priority will still be given to higher risk groups.
The DCA has granted conditional registration approval for use during a disaster for the CanSino and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
Also, Pfizer has been approved for use on 12 years old and above.
