WANTED! Police On The Hunt for Pantai Dalam EMCO Escapees

In light of the recent Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), a viral video of several men fleeing the enhanced movement control order at the PPR Pantai Ria at Pantai Dalam has made its rounds on social media.

The 2 minutes 5 seconds video which went viral on Facebook, featured several shirtless men, slipping under the barbed wire barricade placed around PPR Pantai Ria, before crouching between two parked cars. They, then, jumped over the fence and ran away.

As a result, the police are now tracking the whereabouts of the men involved in the video. Brickfields, OCPD Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar stated that a police report has been lodged over the incident at the Pantai Police Station. Adding on to his statement, he said, “For now, the suspects have yet to be caught and a further investigation revealed that they have run away in the direction of the river area behind the PPR involved. The case is being investigated under Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act.”

According to him, the men are believed to be drug addicts and two of them were identified as a 34-year-old man as well as a 46-year-old man with numerous criminal cases that include carious drug offences, robbery, theft and burglary. The third suspect has yet to be identified.

The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) were tasked to repair the damages done towards the barbed wire barricade as a consequence of the mens’ actions. The details of the incident are still very unclear as they were no indication of the date or the time of the act. However, it was shared by renowned celebrity chef, Chef Wan and local comedian, Harith Iskandar with both starkly contrasting messages.

The winner of the Funniest Person in the World Competition said, “This pandemic and resulting lockdown is taking a toll on all of us. People are tired, scared, hungry and feeling worthless. We only hope it doesn’t push more people to do stupid stuff and hurt themselves or others. We need a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Meanwhile, Chef Wan condemned the escapees, speculating them to be drug addicts. “Disgusting behaviour of how selfish some of us can be and to go under such lengths,” he said

The EMCO at PPR Pantai Ria and Taman Bukit Angkasa, Pantai Dalam has been enforced from last Thursday (July 1st) till July 14th.
