With his status and popularity as the Prince of Pahang, it’s no surprise that many Malaysians are curious about when Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah will tie the knot. While there hasn’t been any confirmed marriage news, many rumours are circulating on social media.
Recently, an Instagram account from a Malaysian named Faridah Daud has been posting about an alleged wedding with the royalty. The Instagram account is no longer available, but screenshots of the posts have made their way to other social media platforms. Through the posts, Faridah claimed she’s preparing for her wedding next April, claiming that her partner is Tengku Hassanal.
The Pahang palace has since dismissed the rumours that the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang is getting married next year. In an official statement, Major General Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya, the Comptroller of the Istana Pahang, condemned Faridah’s posting, calling it defamatory. The Major General also revealed that the woman has previously made similar statements on social media, alleging that she and Tengku Hassanal are a couple.
Zahari also said the palace could take strict legal action against anyone spreading defamatory content relating to the Pahang Palace. However, it’s unclear whether Faridah would face – or have faced – legal action, given that this isn’t the first time she spread such claims. At the same time, the Comptroller urged the public to ignore any statement made unless it’s from the official Pahang Palace portal or social media accounts.
Tengku Hassanal’s marital status has long been a subject of interest amongst locals. In October, the Kesultanan Pahang Facebook page refuted a viral social post that claimed the prince had gotten married. Tengku Hassanal himself has also spoken about false marriage rumours, altogether denying the allegations. At the time, the Prince of Pahang also asked the public to respect his privacy regarding personal matters.
It’s a shame that His Highness continues to be plagued by such issues. We hope that netizens can refrain from sharing such rumours without further proof. What are your thoughts on this?
