So many artists get inspired by the diversity of nature. Jo Brown, a professional illustrator based in the UK, documents what she came across during outdoor adventures in a journal. This colorful journal called ‘Nature Journals’ is full of absolutely stunning drawings and notes of fauna and flora that she sees in the Devon countryside. For her colorful, eye-catching illustrations, Brown uses the whole page. This makes the drawings appear like they are popping off the page. Her compositions are truly vibrant and attractive.
Brown’s website states that she wants to record what she discovers because nature is one of the most significant aspects of her life. In her portfolio, she features gorgeous drawings of a variety of natural components, ranging from carnivorous plants to tiny insects to indigenous birds. She says that she didn’t have to look far to find what she illustrates. Most of her subjects can be easily found with “a little patience and quiet observation”.

To add incredible details to her subjects, Brown collectively uses fine-nib pens and colored pencils. Most of the time, she even adds close-ups of specific components related to her subject, similar to scientific illustrations. She also includes educational facts and figures about the animals and plants that she illustrates, making them even more detailed.
