9 New Shopping Malls Are Opening Around Klang Valley

After being cooped up at home for so long, shopping malls are now the go-to place as it offers not just visual pleasure, but also provides entertainment, space to kill time, and air-con shelter. As we enter the new normal, things are starting to speed up, following countless delays over the past 2 years.

If you’re looking new recreation spots to meet up with friends after not seeing each other for such a long time, new dining outlets to enjoy meals with families, or simply a place to spend time with your lover – you can probably suggest these new malls.

Here are the 9 new shopping malls popping up in Klang Valley:

1. Pavilion Bukit Jalil

This is one of the most anticipated malls of the year. Slated to open in December 2021, it’ll have plenty of space for you to stretch your legs as it has over 1.8 million square feet of retail space. Aside from walking the length of the mall (the most exciting thing, really), it’s a haven for food lovers with plenty of delicacies for you to satisfy yourself with. If you’re looking to be entertained, you can either go ice skating, karaoke, or watch movies at Dadi Cinema, that is, if you’re not bored of staring at a screen yet.

2. Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport

Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport Kuala Lumpur will be the first LaLaport developed in Southeast Asia and it can be found in Bukit Bintang. It has 1.4 million square feet of retail space and promises to bring new retail experiences for its shoppers. The best part is that you can get direct access to the mall via LRT and KL Monorail. There is also a pedestrian walkway from the MRT station.

Fun fact: It occupies a large site of the old Pudu Prison.

3. Datum Mall Jelatek

Datum Mall focuses on being a neighbourhood mall. Located in the heart of the city, it’s only 7 minutes away from KLCC when taking the TRX. The mall is also connected to Jelatek LRT station so you don’t necessarily have to brave the traffic. You can find your ‘friendly neighbourhood shops’ here such as Pacific Concept Store, Mr. DIY, Net Food Garden, Jom Bali and Daiso.

4. Setia Ecohill Walk Mall

This is set to be the largest mall in Semenyih Township. With 23,000 square feet of retail space, you’ll have access to premium entertainment and fine dining outlets. The developers announced that MBO Cinemas will be its first anchor tenant. The unique mall is designed with wide corridors and amazing views, so you can still enjoy natural light even as you stroll the mall. It will have a 4-storey car park with 2,000 car park bays so you don’t have to fuss about parking.

5. Setia City Mall Phase 2

If you’ve enjoyed Setia City Mall, you’ll be happy to know they are expanding! With the additional 400,000 square feet of space, the mall will be able to house another 150 retailers. You’ll be able to satisfy your shopping, dining and entertainment needs here. Also, you can spend some quality time with friends and families with their enhanced entertainment areas. Don’t forget to check out the MIddle Eastern LuLu’s Hypermarket and Department Stores when you visit!

6. IOI City Mall Phase 2

IOI City Mall’s Phase 2 is set to complement its current Phase 1. Phase 2 has an additional 1 million square feet space and a central glass atrium. As such, visitors will be able to enjoy the sky whilst remaining indoors. There will also be an exhibition hall, a new cinema concept with IMAX hall, a dining arcade with a drop-off zone, edutainment and entertainment centres, a rooftop sports centre and gymnasium. With Phase 1 and Phase 2 combined, IOI Mall has a total area of 2.5 million square feet. This will make it the biggest regional mall in Malaysia!

7. KSL Esplanade Mall

Here is a one-stop destination for all your needs. Accessible via a nearby LRT station that is only 10 minutes away, the mall offers plenty of excitement, along with shopping and dining. You can fritter time away with an enriching movie going experience, unique indoor kids playground, urban activity park for adults, and the swimming academy. Have fun exploring the mall when it’s open!

8. 8 Conlay

You may remember this mall from a little misunderstanding last year. However, 8 Conlay is an ambitious mixed-used development that combines luxury accommodation with a lifestyle retail podium. It will be the world’s tallest twisted twin residential tower located in the heart of KL’s Golden Triangle. This mall will only be a stone’s throw away from Pavilion KL and the MRT station.

9. Permata Sapura Tower

This building was inspired by Mount Kinabalu. It is a mixed-use development located near the conference centre in KLCC. There are seven level in total, five for car parks and the remaining two for retail space. It is designed to be seamlessly integrated with the KLCC space by connecting its carpark to the KLCC basement car park. Permata Sapura also goes by another name; Lot 91.
