Many viral moments have emerged from a singer’s concert – from them accidentally swallowing a bug to fans joining their favourite star for an impromptu dance session on stage. However, this moment from Fish Leong’s (梁静茹) recent concert has gone viral for being so wholesome.
The Malaysian-born Mandopop singer is embarking on her 20th anniversary, recently performing in Beijing, China. However, during the performance of her song “Acceptance (接受), Fish began feeling emotional, and her voice started to tremble. While Fish did try to toughen up and continue her song, she choked up and couldn’t continue singing. At one point, she even covered her face to conceal that she was tearing up.
In hopes of comforting the star, the audience began singing the chorus. The stadium sang the touching lyrics, “We both accepted that we must be immature enough to be inseparable in love. The severity and honesty of this was too much. We can’t go back or move forward.” Upon hearing her fans, Fish mustered up the courage to continue singing, albeit still noticeably emotional. The 46-year-old then quickly wiped away her tears before facing the crowd.
The heartwarming moment went viral on social media, with many touched by the scene between an emotional star and her adoring fans. Others also praised her skills, impressed that she could sing while tearing up. It’s unsure why Fish started getting emotional during the song – but fans believed the lyrics reminded her of her relationship with ex-husband Tony Chao (趙元同). Fish previously mentioned that she developed severe anxiety after her divorce in 2019 and had to seek professional help to recover.
After her performance, Fish took to her social media to share her thoughts and feelings. In the post, the singer wrote, “This musical journey has given me a dreamlike feeling. I’ve experienced so many things on the way. The ups and downs of life, the happiness and sadness, the possession and loss, are all a journey. Thank you all for accompanying and cherishing Team Fish on this journey.”
There’s no doubt that the bond between a beloved star and her fans can be something so powerful. We hope Fish can continue to find strength in her fans’ love and support.
