Going For Gold: OMEGA Unveils The Seamaster Milano Cortina 2026 Ahead Of Winter Olympics

In one year’s time, the world’s attention will turn to the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. As Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, OMEGA marks this milestone with the introduction of the Seamaster 37 mm Milano Cortina 2026, a timepiece that celebrates the enduring design legacy of an iconic collection.

OMEGA’s Olympic journey spans more than nine decades of precision timekeeping. The brand has served as Official Timekeeper since the Los Angeles 1932 Games, developing pioneering technologies that have revolutionised sports timing. Ahead of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games opening ceremony on 6th February 2026, the iconic watchmaker introduced a new commemorative timepiece. This special edition combines classic elements of the iconic Seamaster design with modern craftsmanship. The symmetrical case, crafted in 18K Moonshine™ Gold, presents refined proportions enhanced by a polished finish and distinctive hexagonal crown – a design elements that echo the original Seamaster Olympic timepieces. At the heart of the timepiece, a pristine white Grand Feu enamel dial creates an elegant stage for sculptured 18K Moonshine™ Gold hour markers.

Diamond-polished and facetted 18K gold dauphine hands, complement transferred markings executed in grey Petit Feu enamel, including the signature Seamaster typography and minute track. Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, spoke about the timepiece, saying, “This timepiece represents our Olympic excellence since Los Angeles. While the Seamaster 37 mm design has remained remarkably consistent since the Melbourne 1956 Games, our timekeeping technology has continuously evolved.”

Inside the stunning timepiece, the self-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807 demonstrates OMEGA’s excellence in precision. The performance and magnetic resistance is guaranteed by the Master Chronometer certification, with tests certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).

The Olympic connection is celebrated through a commemorative medallion on the polished caseback featuring the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics logo. The timepiece is presented on a brown leather strap with matching leather lining and a polished 18K Moonshine™ Gold buckle.

As Official Timekeeper of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Swiss watchmaker OMEGA has marked the moment with a special “One Year To Go” celebration in Milano – one of the two Italian host cities. Especially for the occasion, the brand unveiled its stunning new Countdown Clock next to Milano’s iconic cathedral at the Piazza del Duomo.

Similar to a snow globe, the giant clock has been tailor-made with a special airflow system that creates a continuous artificial snowfall effect around the competition logo. On the outside of the cube, two digital displays keep track of the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games on 6th February 2026, as well as the Paralympic Winter Games, beginning on 6th March 2026.

The event was officiated by Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, who was joined by Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee; Alain Zobrist, the CEO of OMEGA Timing; and Giovanni Malagò, the President of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation. Raynald Aeschlimann spoke about the event, saying, “We can already feel the anticipation and excitement building for the winter events at Milano Cortina 2026. We know the athletes will have their dreams set on this huge upcoming occasion, and it makes everyone at OMEGA very proud to know we will be there to time their historic moments.”
