When one visits Malaysia, it’s no surprise that they start trying out all the local delicacies. Hong Kong star Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) was one of those visitors, going on a delicious food hunt during his recent Kuala Lumpur trip.
The actor recently uploaded a video on his XiaoHongShu account, showing what he did in KL during his recent trip. According to reports, Wayne was in Malaysia in early January for work. However, he also had some free time to visit the local landmarks and eateries. Being the foodie he is, the star made sure to film all the delicious treats he ate to show his followers.
The video he posted was captioned, “When you go out to work, the first thing you need to do is to find delicious food! Eat again and again. Have you tried this?” In the first scene, the 60-year-old was chowing down on a hot bowl of congee and some Hainanese-style chicken. Next, the video shows Wayne having fish head curry and beef stew with rice at a Chinese restaurant.
Of course, no trip to Malaysia is complete without having some quintessential Malaysian fares. During his visit, Wayne had prawn mee with sambal, asam laksa and the classic nasi lemak with fried chicken. The star ate each dish with gusto, showing his love for food. The actor’s Malaysia food tour ends with him having some durian straight out of the shell. The video concludes with a clip of the actor posing in front of the PETRONAS Twin Towers.
Many fans have since reacted to the video and all the dishes Wayne showed. Some Malaysians also shared a belated welcome for the star. Besides recommending other dishes for him to try, a few local fans also said he should visit other states to try their local fares. Others quipped that the actor got them hungry for Malaysian food after seeing how deliciously he ate all the dishes.
While Wayne’s no longer in KL, nor does it seem like he has plans to return soon, at least he already has a list of restaurant recommendations for his future trip. In the meantime, watch the actor’s food vlog below:
