Swedish retail company IKEA has announced that the brand’s collection with LEGO will arrive in Malaysian stores very shortly.
Anyone interested in both brands might have a keen interest in DIY-related stuff, and this might just be a treat for Malaysians pursuing such interest.
Launched in Singapore last week was the ‘BYGGLEK’ collection, which attracted crowds of people queueing up to finally purchase and receive the collection. It sold out just days before it was supposed to be sold online.
IKEA’s spokesperson stated that the company is thankful for everyone who showed their love and interest towards the BYGGLEK collection, but that it’s sold out for now. Restocking of the collection could come in March, based on the company.
In early February, IKEA uploaded a video teaser announcing that the BYGGLEK collection will officially be launched in Malaysia next month in March.
The collection offers three white storage boxes which resemble big LEGO bricks and the lids are designed with tiny plugs, with indents on the side of the boxes are decorated with plugs as well. This will ensure anyone playing with the BYGGLEK collection can start thinking creatively when making handles.
On top of each box, the plugs are there to stack and construct towers of boxes. Furthermore, IKEA has curated a 201-piece collection of bricks, mini-figures, and food items, all in a variety of colours to make it more enjoyable for children.
Both children and adults can make use of the storage boxes to store LEGO pieces or use them as displayed sculptures. People can play and exhibit their creations, then come back and recreate them. You also have the option to start over from scratch to get a newer idea of what you want to create.
LEGO studs help make sure the boxes can stack on top of each other in a fixed position. The BYGGLEK collection is very multifunctional and can help make cleaning and organising at home much more enjoyable.
Still, no confirmation on what the set price is. But try referring to IKEA Singapore’s website might give a clear idea of how much it will cost in Malaysia. Apparently it costs SGD14.99, which in Malaysian currency is RM45.79.
Customers can also buy just the white LEGO box without the lid as they are sold separately.
With the collection being sold out in Singapore in a matter of days even before online purchasing, will the same result perpetuate through Malaysia as well?
