Schools have started reopening this week after the implementation of home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) over the past few months. Parents and teachers celebrate the reopening of schools as things are slowly going back to normal.
However, it was reported that a Kajang teacher was tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, a total of 20 teachers and school staff of the school were ordered to quarantine themselves based on that one confirmed case.
Based on a report from the Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, the teacher was infected with the Covid-19 virus after coming into contact with the teacher’s older brother before being tested positive.
23rd February was the last time the teacher reported for duty at the school. During the same day, the teacher went through a Covid-19 screening test and was then put under quarantine. Unfortunately, when results came in on 1st March, the teacher was tested positive for Covid-19.
Later on, 20 of the teachers and school staff who came into close contact with the teacher during schooltime underwent pap smears or smear tests. They were later asked to quarantine themselves. Fortunately, no students were exposed to the case and are all safe.
The case that was inflicted on the teacher was registered in Sepang, Selangor, as seen from the address of residence. All teachers and staff involved have started to quarantine for two weeks, until 8th March.
